Age 80, of Pittsburgh’s Hays neighborhood, and a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, died on Tuesday, September 19th, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Marie (Sarraino) Swearingen. Beloved father of Linda (Gregory) Rundy, Michael (Lisa) Swearingen, Charles Jr. (Robin) Swearingen, and Daniel (Christina) Swearingen. Grandfather of seven grandchildren: Andrew (Danielle), Spencer (Justin), Dakota, Mikala, Dalton, Brock, and Brynn. Great-Pap of six great-grandchildren: Sawyer, Wyatt, Gunnar, Cruz, Charlotte, and Tatem. Brother of the late Thomas Swearingen and Joyce Swearingen. Son of the late Marjorie R. (Fleming) Swearingen.
Charles was a caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. His favorite things were to share his knowledge with his children about anything and everything and supporting his grandchildren in every school and sporting event—no matter the time or place. He was the first one to make others feel welcomed, protected, and cared for. He was fiercely loyal to his family, and it has always been clear that his love for them is everlasting.
Charles was extremely proud of his military service, serving as a Corporal, in the United States Marine Corps, during the Vietnam War. He was a tremendously hard-working man and loved his time in the service. He retired in 2001 after a long career at U.S. Airways.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to everyone for all the support and kindness during this difficult time.
…….. Semper Fidelis.
As per Charles’s wishes, services and interment will be held privately for his family. Arrangements are entrusted to ANTHONY G. STAAB FUNERAL HOME, INC., 900 Chartiers Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15220.
