John W. Yorkgitis

Age 92, of Crafton, on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. Beloved husband of the late LaVerne M. (Connolly) Yorkgitis. Loving father of Wayne (Shelly), Jack, Gary (Patti) and Mark (Patty) Yorkgitis. Grandfather of Dr. Brian (Erin) Yorkgitis, Jennifer (David) Hallam, Craig Yorkgitis, and the late Christopher Yorkgitis. Also survived by nine great-grandchildren. John was proud of his time spent in the military, serving as a Corporal in the Aircraft Engineering Squadron #41 for the United States Marine Corps, during the Korean War. John was a self-made union carpenter, millwright machinist, part-owner of LaVerne’s Diner that was in the West End for 43 years, and a family man. John will be sadly missed by his dog and best buddy Sammy. Friends received 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at ANTHONY G. STAAB FUNERAL HOME, INC., 900 Chartiers Ave., Pgh, PA 15220. A Blessing Service will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home. Interment to follow in St. Martin Cemetery, with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, John’s family suggests donations be made to the wonderful people at AHN Hospice, who took great care of John.
