Joseph R. Twardy

Age 71, of the West End, peacefully on Saturday, March 20, 2021. Beloved husband of Judy (Kennel) Twardy, his best buddy of 49 years. Loving father of Jeffrey M. (Nina Strutt), Jason R. (Amanda) and Justin R. (Janiene) Twardy. Grandfather of Stephanie, Sydney, Ethan, Madeleine, Charlotte, Emily and Joe Twardy. Son of the late Raymond S. and Marie V. “Babe” (Drogowski) Twardy. Brother of the late Richard Twardy. Joe was a graduate of Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara and worked for 44 years as a Medical Photographer at West Penn Hospital. Joe is the only Golden Eagle Award recipient at West Penn Hospital who was not a Medical Doctor. Friends received Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at ANTHONY G. STAAB FUNERAL HOME, INC., 900 Chartiers Ave., Pgh., PA 15220. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Ascension Church of St. Philip Parish, 114 Berry St., Pgh, PA 15205. The funeral home is following all CDC and PA State guidelines. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Western PA, 2403 Sidney Street, Suite 230, Pittsburgh, PA 15203.
