At the age of 82, Sr. Ana Leticia Plasencia Barrios (affectionately known as Sr. Letty) went to her eternal reward on December 15, 2021. She was born in Vega Baja, Arecibo, Puerto Rico on April 28, 1939; was baptized in San Felipa, Arecibo, PR and was given the name, Leticia. She entered the Sisters of Divine Providence on September 6, 1959 and made Final Vows on August 13, 1967. Before transferring to the States, Sr. Ana Leticia was a principal and teacher in schools in Orocovis and Utuado. She also flourished as a pastoral social worker in in the States especially in New York. After retiring to Providence Heights, Sr. Letty assisted the Sisters and Staff of Divine Providence Alpha School. She will always be remembered for her magnetic personality, her willingness to assist with any responsibility at any given time and her love for sharing the current National news. Sr. Ana Leticia received a Master of Religious Education from Seattle University in 1989. Sr. Ana Leticia is preceded in death by her father, Porfirio, mother, Ana Rosa Barrios, and brother, Wilfredo Plasencia. Sr. Ana Leticia is survived by her sister, Myrta Plasencia, two brothers, Porfirio N. (Doris Myrna) and Tico (Kristine), sister-in-law, Maria Plasencia and several nieces and nephews and the Sisters of Divine Providence and their Associates. Fully vaccinated family and friends are invited to the Mother of Divine Providence Chapel for viewing on Monday, December 20th, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. and on Tuesday, December 21st, from 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m. The Mass of the Resurrection is to be celebrated on Tuesday, December 21st, at 11 a.m. in the Sisters’ Chapel, 9000 Babcock Blvd., Allison Park, PA 15101. Facial masks are REQUIRED at all times while visiting in Providence Heights. Livestream will be available: https://video.ibm.com/channel/Q4zW6rUvwPq. Burial will follow in the Sisters’ Cemetery.
