Formerly Sr. Bernard Joseph, on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, age 91, of McCandless Twp., died peacefully at Providence Heights. Sr. Constance was born September 3, 1923 in Chicora, PA. She entered the Sisters of Divine Providence on September 3, 1944. Throughout the next 70 years she faithfully and joyfully served God and others as teacher in the Diocese of Pittsburgh for 32 years. Sr. Constance was an elementary teacher at St. Joseph - Duquesne, St. Basil, All Saints, St. Cecilia in Rochester, and St. Alphonsus in Springdale. Upon changing ministry, she continued as a driver for the Sisters at Providence Heights in Allison Park until 1998. Sr. Constance continued to service the Sisters through prayer ministry until her death. She received a bachelor of education from Duquesne University and continued lifelong learning through the years. Sr. Constance is preceded in death by her parents S. Augustus Waltman, and Esther Alice Geibel, and two sisters Dolores Philips and Ellen Waltman. She is survived by her brother, Bernard Waltman and sister, Frances Waltman and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at Providence Heights on Friday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm., with Wake Service at 7 pm. Visitation on Saturday from noon- 3:30 pm, with Mass of Christian Burial at 4:00 pm in Mother of Divine Providence Chapel. Memorial contributions may be sent to Sisters of Divine Providence, 9000 Babcock Blvd., Allison Park, PA. 15101.
