Sister Emma Jean entered eternal life on the evening of Tuesday, March 3, 2026. She was the daughter of Charles P. and Emma (Wuenschel) Middendorf and has one sister, Marilyn Habick. She joined the Sisters of Divine Providence from St. Martin Parish in the West End of Pittsburgh. Sister spent many years in the ministry of education as a teacher in schools across Pennsylvania, Michigan and West Virginia. Later, she was transferred to the New England Province of the Sisters where she continued her ministry of education in Massachusetts for more than forty years. She earned academic degrees from Carlow University and Boston College, as well as several certifications. More recently, at Providence Heights, she found many ways to be of service. Sister was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her sister, friends, and the Sisters of Divine Providence and their Associates. Visitation will be from 12-4 p.m. on Thursday, March 5th and from 12-2 p.m. on Friday, March 6th. A Wake Prayer Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2026. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 6th at 3 p.m. All events will take place in Visitation Chapel of Kearns Spirituality Center, 9000 Babcock Boulevard, Allison Park, PA, 15101.
