Sr. Margaret Boes, CDP

At the age of 98, Sr. Margaret (formerly Sr. Flavia) Boes went to her eternal reward on Thursday, January 28, 2021. She was born in Johnstown, PA, on September 21, 1922. She was baptized in Immaculate Conception in Johnstown, PA, and was given the name Margaret Elizabeth. She entered the Sisters of Divine Providence in 1939 and made Final Vows on August 10, 1946. With gifts of creativity and exactness, Sr. Margaret was a superb educator for over 50 years. She ministered as a teacher throughout the greater Pittsburgh area and in the Archdiocese of Detroit. She also spent 10 summers at Camp Mishannock located in Kingston, MA, assisting the campers in making a variety of crafts. When she returned home to Providence Heights in 1997, she assisted the Archivist with a variety of duties in the Archives of the Community. She received her BE and ME in Counseling and Guidance from Duquesne University. Sr. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Edward V. and Mary Stella (Ritter) Boes, along with her siblings: Eleanor Lorditch, Katherine Swift, Sr. Virginia Boes, Edward W., Madeline Neatrour, John and James Boes. Sr. Margaret is survived by her youngest sister, Joan (Maurice) Harnisch, as well as many nieces, nephews, and the Sisters of Divine Providence and their Associates. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, services and interment are private. A memorial service will be arranged at a later date.
