At the age of 82 , of McCandless Township, Sister Marise Hrabosky went to her eternal reward on May 16, 2020. She was born in Clairton, PA on January 25, 1938; was baptized in the St. Joseph Church in Ellwood City and was given the name Catherine. She entered the Sisters of Divine Providence in 1953 and made Final Vows on August 14, 1960. Sr. Marise was an educator for almost 35 years; was both teacher and principal throughout the greater Pittsburgh area, Columbus, Ohio and in the Archdiocese of Detroit area. The two schools she served the longest were: Providence Heights Alpha School in Allison Park, PA from 1976-82; Our Lady of Grace in Scott Township from 1990-98. She also served as social parish minister at Our Lady of Grace in Scott Township, PA for several years before returning to Providence Heights to assume the ministry of Co-director from 1998-02. She then served as parish social minister at Good Samaritan Roman Catholic Church in Ambridge, PA. Her respective ministries often included leading liturgical singing because she was blessed with an “angelic” voice. She received her Bachelor and Master’s degrees from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh; plus a Certificate in Administration from the University of Dayton. The oldest of a family of four children, she was preceded in death by her father, William J. Hrabosky, and siblings Timothy and an infant. Sr. Marise is survived by her 102 year old mother, Mary Berchok Hrabosky, and her brother, William, and sister-in-law, Bobbie, plus several nieces and nephews and the Sisters of Divine Providence and their Associates. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, services and interment are private. A Memorial Mass will be arranged at a later date.
