DIMMERLING SISTER MARY ADRIAN, CDP
Age 96, died at Lourdes Center, in Kingston, MA, on June 2, 2012. She will be brought to the Motherhouse of the Sisters of Divine Providence for wake, funeral and burial. A native of Braddock, PA, Sister Mary Adrian entered the Sisters of Divine Providence on August 21, 1932 from St. Joseph's Parish in Braddock. She was preceded in death by her parents, Amelia Weisert and Edward Dimmerling, and two brothers, Bishop Harold Dimmerling (Rapid City, SD) and Carl Dimmerling; and two sisters, Violet Dimmerling and Agnes Kollar. She is survived by sisters, Wilma Seng, Pittsburgh, PA, Vera Clairborne, Knoxville, TN, Rita Malley, West Mifflin, PA; and many nieces; nephews; and great-nieces; and great-nephews. She earned bachelor's and master's degrees, both in education, from Duquesne University. She also obtained a Master's of Religious Education degree from St. Mary's College in Indiana, and a Master's Degree of Church Administration from The Catholic University of America. She taught in elementary and secondary schools in the Dioceses of Pittsburgh, Greensburg, and Wheeling. She was principal of St. Basil High School in Carrick from 1966-76. Sr. Mary Adrian was named Novice Director for the Congregation from 1956-66. She also served on the Provincial Council of the Congregation from 1980-85. She worked in the Congregation's finance office and the Diocesan Tribunal Offices in both the Pittsburgh and Wheeling Dioceses. She also served as General Econome and Archivist for the Generalate of the Congregation in Rome from 1995 to 1999 and in Rhode Island from 2000-2007. Throughout her life she enjoyed music and played piano, organ, and cello. In her retirement years, she pursued painting and Tai Chi. Sr. Mary Adrian experienced God's Providence as loving care that surrounds us and is present in each moment of our lives. Thus, she believed that all things will ultimately work unto good. Family and friends received Thursday, June 7, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. and on Friday, June 8, from Noon to 3:30 p.m. at the Providence Heights Motherhouse. Funeral Mass 4:00 p.m. on June 8, in the Mother of Divine Providence Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Sisters of Divine Providence Retirement Fund, 9000 Babcock Boulevard, Allison Park, PA 15101.
