At the age of 82, Sr. Zita Kessler, went to her eternal reward on Saturday, November 28, 2020. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on August 22, 1938, was baptized in St. Mary’s in Glenshaw, PA, and received the name Mary Catherine. She entered the Sisters of Divine Providence in 1954 and made Final Vows on August 12, 1962. Initially, Sr. Zita assisted in the culinary department at Providence Heights. Because of her pleasing and amicable personality, Sr. Zita was successful in serving in a variety of ministries: assisted in managing St. Ambrose Manor in Springhill, continued her culinary talents in the Bishop’s House in Oakland for 14 years, assisted in caring for the elderly Sisters in Retirement for 26 years and then served as a Receptionist at La Roche University for 5 years. Upon retiring from LRU, Sr. Zita assisted in a variety of duties at Providence Heights. Sr. Zita was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph W. and Rose (Kraus) Kessler, along with her three siblings: Theresa, Nickolaus and William. Sr. Zita is survived by Joseph (Lorraine), Edmund (Althea), Anthony and Elizabeth (John) Rosenberger; accompanied by numerous nieces and nephews and the Sisters of Divine Providence and their Associates. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, services and interment are private. A memorial service will be arranged at a later date.
